Dwarka — the legendary kingdom of Lord Krishna
For Hindus, Dwarka is one of the four Char Dham — the most sacred pilgrimage circuit. For everyone else, it's a fantastic temple town on the Gulf of Kutch with one of India's cleanest beaches 12 km away.

Temple, island, beach
The temple town sits on a small peninsula, almost surrounded by the sea. Dwarkadhish Temple — a 5-tier, 78-m-tall limestone tower — is the heart of it. Walk through the markets outside, where vendors sell brass idols and rose-petal garlands, and time the visit for the aarti at twilight when the temple is fully lit.
An hour's boat ride from the Okha jetty takes you to Beyt Dwarka, an island with its own smaller temple — what many believe is the original site of Krishna's capital. The boat ride itself, across the Gulf, is the highlight.
Then there's Shivrajpur Beach, 12 km west, certified Blue Flag clean. Soft white sand, gentle turquoise water, food trucks, sunset views — easily one of the best beaches on the Saurashtra coast.
